Journey Early Learning Centre Riverhills is where your child’s journey begins. We provide a nurturing environment filled with curiosity, wonder and joy. It’s a place where children aged from six weeks to six years of age can make a positive start to a life of learning, development, growth and opportunity. We are especially proud of our loyal and longstanding educators. Some have been with us for over 10 years, while our fantastic cook Mairi has been a part of the family for 31 years!
Journey Riverhills is the perfect space for little explorers who have a natural sense of curiosity and yearning for adventure. The centre is designed around play-based learning and is a veritable wonderland for your child, with a sensory textured bike path, rocky paths, wooden bridge, a tiered level play space, multiple sand pits, playground, a sensory rock bed, and our very own vegetable garden.
We love to connect with the Riverhills community and that’s why we have our very own community street library. Street Libraries are a wonderful home for books. They are accessible from the street and an invitation to share in the joy of reading with families and friends. They are a window into the mind of a community; books come and go; no-one needs to check them in or out. You simply reach in and take what interests you; when you are done, you can return them to the Street Library network, or pass them on to friends. Always looking at the journey ahead, we also run a school readiness program with Middle Park State School.
From peek-a-boo to prep, we’re here every step of the way.
School transition is a major focus, and we work hard to ensure this is a smooth process. By providing a safe and secure environment, our children develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self for the school journey ahead.
In order to ensure every child is prepared for school, our Kindergarten classrooms are intentionally designed by our Teachers to align with the Journey Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework and Curriculum. Our Government Approved Funded 3 and 4-Year-Old Kindergarten Classrooms are run by ACCEQA approved Early Childhood Teachers and Qualified Educators. Children enrolling in our 4-Year-Old Kinder Program are provided with ongoing support from teachers in preparation for school through our School Readiness Program.
Did you know that your child can attend Journey from 6 weeks to their first day of school?

Hello, I’m Kerryn the Centre Manager at Journey Early Learning Riverhills.
I have worked in the Childcare sector for 20 years. Starting as a trainee in Perth where I completed my certificate III in Childcare and continuing my personal development to complete my Advanced Diploma in Childcare. Rising to the position of Centre Manager before returning to Brisbane. I have had the privilege of working as a Centre Manager for the past 14 years.
I have 2yr old twin boys, Declan and Zavier who I am lucky to have join me at Journey Riverhills. I believe the way to build the foundation of a successful early learning environment is through relationships. Through the bond of our educators, families and children we can provide a safe and welcoming environment for all children to thrive, learn and develop.
“A child’s life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark.” (Robert Heinlein)
We all play a very important role in guiding, supporting and encouraging the young minds of today’s children. Allowing them to grow and mature in a positive and supportive environment.
“Children learn as they play. Most importantly in play they learn how to learn.” (O. Fred Donaldson)
Learning how to learn through play is a very individual experience that supports the development of future learning behaviours in the child. When a child is given time, space and materials to explore they learn how to focus, be intentional, meet self-selected goals, pursue deeper understanding, explore with their imagination and so much more both physically and mentally.
Family is an important part of my life and in joining Journey my family has grown. I believe a leader needs to be able to see what happens at ground level and lead from within.
I look forward to getting to know all the families and children and help guide and develop the children into the future. With a united team we can achieve great things.

Exploring nature-based play

Children love getting out and exploring in nature. It really is the greatest teacher. Nature based play is a core part of our curriculum. That’s because it teaches them vital life skills including confidence, independence, exploration and cooperation. Playing outside also promotes health and wellbeing and teaches them respect for the environment.
