School transition is a major focus, and we work hard to ensure this is a smooth process. By providing a safe and secure environment, our children develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self for the school journey ahead.
In order to ensure every child is prepared for school, our Kindergarten classrooms are intentionally designed by our Teachers to align with the Journey Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework and Curriculum. Our Government Approved Funded 3 and 4-Year-Old Kindergarten Classrooms are run by ACCEQA approved Early Childhood Teachers and Qualified Educators. Children enrolling in our 4-Year-Old Kinder Program are provided with ongoing support from teachers in preparation for school through our School Readiness Program.
Did you know that your child can attend Journey from 6 weeks to their first day of school?

“Our sons attend Journey Early Learning Durack Heights and absolutely love it! The whole centre feels like a family. It’s a beautiful new centre filled with beautiful, kind and loving staff. Our boys are absolutely thriving since starting here and the activities are endless. Hands down the best daycare centre we could ask for. Thank you all!”

“Our daughter started at Journey Early Learning Centre Durack Heights when it opened this year. We enjoy the family feel of the centre and the rooms are children centred with a variety of resources on offer. Our daughter has flourished in her social and emotional development under the guidance of exceptional staff. Journey Durack Heights has a strong relationship with a local school which is a benefit to us as our daughter will attend that school. If you are after a centre that puts your child’s needs first, visit Journey. We will be sad to leave at the end of the year due to starting school.”
Catherine

Hi there! Welcome to Journey Early Learning Durack Heights. My name is Emily, and I am an Early Childhood Educator. I have always been drawn to infants from a very young age, so becoming an educator was a natural progression for me. In fact, I started as a work experience student back in 2010 while completing high school, and since then, I have had the privilege of working in various roles, including Educator, Lead Educator, Educational Leader, Assistant Manager, and Manager.
Throughout my 13 years in Early Childhood Education and Care, I have had the opportunity to travel to many places around Australia, as well as study Early Childhood Education settings in New Zealand. However, my favourite part of working with children is being able to provide them with positive lifelong experiences from such a young age. I thrive on navigating the challenges they offer, and I believe that my career motto says it all: ‘never underestimate a child’. I see children as capable decision-makers from birth and trust them to initiate, explore, and self-learn.
I am particularly obsessed with Magda Gerba’s RIE Approach, which focuses on respectful interactions and relationships with infants and young children. My ultimate career goal is to support both adults and children to have a voice, be confident, and find their best path in life. So, come and join me at Journey Early Learning Durack Heights, and let’s make every moment count for your child’s development!

Exploring nature-based play
Children love getting out and exploring in nature. It really is the greatest teacher. Nature based play is a core part of our curriculum. That’s because it teaches them vital life skills including confidence, independence, exploration and cooperation. Playing outside also promotes health and wellbeing and teaches them respect for the environment.
