Celebrating Learning with Durack Heights Inspiring Insights: Learning to Understand Behaviours
We’ve been privileged to encounter some truly remarkable learning opportunities lately, especially concerning our Pedagogical focus for this season – Understanding Behaviours.
The talented team at Durack Heights recently shared their experience with this learning, and it was too good not to share.
If you have great moments of learning that you would love to share, please reach out as I am always looking for more opportunities to celebrate the amazing work our centres are doing.
Understanding Behaviour
Our team loved taking part in the first part of Season 2 with the Pedagogical Strategy team. Understanding behaviours is something that our team has been requesting support in for some time.
We found the mindset tool to be especially helpful in breaking down our personal understanding and assumptions of individual children, supporting our team in taking a deeper dive into the communication behind behaviour.
Using this tool in classroom groups sparked a lot of “A-ha!” moments for our team, supporting them in creating action items to implement. We’ve continued to reflect on the outcomes of these action items and have seen some amazing progress.
We are now adding this tool as a template into our Storypark, which we can then utilise more in our classroom critical reflection meetings. We have also been using this tool to look at our mindset towards other contexts, such as staffing.
