Journey Early Learning Centre Durack is where your child’s journey begins. We provide a nurturing environment filled with curiosity, wonder and joy. It’s a place where children aged from six weeks to six years of age can make a positive start to a life of learning, development, growth and opportunity. Our purpose-built early learning centre is located at Packard Avenue, Durack, an inner-city suburb of Palmerston. We provide childcare services to Durack and surrounding areas.
Journey Durack is a warm and homely early learning centre that inspires adventure and joy. This is a large centre designed around your little explorer and play-based learning. A bike track encircles the play spaces, which include a water and rock sensory play area, mud kitchen and large undercover sandpit. All of this encourages our little explorers to get messy, dig in the dirt and play amongst the gardens. We also have a large undercover patio with fans, to keep children cool on Durack’s hottest days.
Learning needs to be fun, so we’ve developed an education approach that opens our little adventurers minds to a variety of different activities and connects them with the wider community. We do things like take them to the nearby lake so they can learn about water awareness, croc safety and immerse themselves in nature-based learning. We also offer swimming lessons, family picnics, library visits, Fitness Fridays and even language lessons. A particular favourite is yoga. The classes are not only loads of fun, they also help build trust between our children and educators.
From peek-a-boo to prep, we’re here every step of the way.
School transition is a major focus, and we work hard to ensure this is a smooth process. By providing a safe and secure environment, our children develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self for the school journey ahead.
In order to ensure every child is prepared for school, our Kindergarten classrooms are intentionally designed by our Teachers to align with the Journey Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework and Curriculum. Our Government Approved Funded 3 and 4-Year-Old Kindergarten Classrooms are run by ACCEQA approved Early Childhood Teachers and Qualified Educators. Children enrolling in our 4-Year-Old Kinder Program are provided with ongoing support from teachers in preparation for school through our School Readiness Program.
Did you know that your child can attend Journey from 6 weeks to their first day of school?
We’ve designed a helpful Child Care Subsidy calculator so you can discover more about your government entitlements. Need help? We’re here to chat, just book an appointment below.
“Thomas loves his daycare and talks about it all the time; he has grown massively in confidence since starting and is really starting to enjoy socialising (and chatting non-stop) with his educators and peers.”
Welcome to Journey Early Learning Durack. My name is Chantelle and I am the Centre Manager here at Journey Early Learning Durack. I hold my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and have 7 years’ experience in the sector. I have worked in a variety of roles including Assistant Manager, Lead Educator, Educational Leader and now Centre Manager. My favourite part about early childhood is watching children develop their own individual personalities and achieving things they didn’t know they could when they are given the opportunity and space to learn. Giving children choices and respecting both their voice and their agency goes such a long way in their learning and development. This is something we as a team strive to achieve here at Durack and it shows in all our interactions.

Exploring nature-based play
Children love getting out and exploring in nature. It really is the greatest teacher. Nature based play is a core part of our curriculum. That’s because it teaches them vital life skills including confidence, independence, exploration and cooperation. Playing outside also promotes health and wellbeing and teaches them respect for the environment.
