Journey Early Learning Centre Durack is where your child’s journey begins. We provide a nurturing environment filled with curiosity, wonder and joy. It’s a place where children aged from six weeks to six years of age can make a positive start to a life of learning, development, growth and opportunity. Our purpose-built early learning centre is located at Packard Avenue, Durack, an inner-city suburb of Palmerston. Rated Exceeding for excellence in early learning, our centre is the best choice for your little ones!

Journey Durack is a warm and homely early learning centre that inspires adventure and joy. This is a large centre designed around your little explorer and play-based learning. A bike track encircles the play spaces, which include a water and rock sensory play area, mud kitchen and large undercover sandpit. All of this encourages our little explorers to get messy, dig in the dirt and play amongst the gardens. We also have a large undercover patio with fans, to keep children cool on Durack’s hottest days.
Learning needs to be fun, so we’ve developed an education approach that opens our little adventurers minds to a variety of different activities and connects them with the wider community. We do things like take them to the nearby lake so they can learn about water awareness, croc safety and immerse themselves in nature-based learning. We also offer swimming lessons, family picnics, library visits, Fitness Fridays and even language lessons. A particular favourite is yoga. The classes are not only loads of fun, they also help build trust between our children and educators.
From peek-a-boo to prep, we’re here every step of the way.
School transition is a major focus, and we work hard to ensure this is a smooth process. By providing a safe and secure environment, our children develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self for the school journey ahead.
In order to ensure every child is prepared for school, our Kindergarten classrooms are intentionally designed by our Teachers to align with the Journey Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework and Curriculum. Our Government Approved Funded 3 and 4-Year-Old Kindergarten Classrooms are run by ACCEQA approved Early Childhood Teachers and Qualified Educators. Children enrolling in our 4-Year-Old Kinder Program are provided with ongoing support from teachers in preparation for school through our School Readiness Program.

Welcome to Journey Early Learning Durack. My name is Rhianna and I am the Centre Manager here at Durack. I hold my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and have been with Journey Early Durack since October 2018. I started off as an assistant educator, then became a Lead Educator, Educational Leader and now have the privilege of being Centre Manager. I have a strong passion for understanding children’s social and emotional development and a passion for my Aboriginal culture. At Durack, I run a Bush Kinder program for the children, which explores Larrakia’s ways of learning and language. At Durack we have a commitment to giving the children the opportunity to get out in the community and experience a less structured environment to learn!

Exploring nature-based play

Children love getting out and exploring in nature. It really is the greatest teacher. Nature based play is a core part of our curriculum. That’s because it teaches them vital life skills including confidence, independence, exploration and cooperation. Playing outside also promotes health and wellbeing and teaches them respect for the environment.
