Cottage Grove by Journey Early Learning is an inner-city childcare centre and is located on Vulture Street in South Brisbane. Our amazing childcare centre provides a nurturing environment where children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age can make a positive start for a life of learning, development, growth and opportunity.

The Cottage Grove building was constructed in 1904 and is a heritage listed property. The rich history of the building provides the centre with a timeless character and a homely feel. Cottage Grove has a expansive and interactive outdoor play spaces, surrounded by nature.

Cottage Grove is a warm and homely early learning centre that inspires adventure and joy. The centre is designed around your little explorer and play-based learning. That means getting messy, digging in the sand and playing in amongst the gardens. Our playspaces inspire children to work together with their friends to conquer milestones with confidence. We encourage our children to test their boundaries, while helping them to achieve different outcomes.

CCS Estimator

Hi there! My name is Rebecca, and I am the newly appointed Centre Manager at Cottage Grove. I entered the sector back in 1999 and have spent my professional career working in partnership with families both in early learning and secondary education. As team leader I hope to create a space for your family to share the joys of childhood. At Cottage Grove we strive to provide a safe, peaceful and natural environment that engages children’s five senses, provoking wonder, curiosity and intellectual engagement.

I strongly believe that children’s first experiences in early education should be positive ones, as it establishes their attitudes towards learning for their whole lives. I am passionate about education and recognising the value that early learning has on children reaching their full potential in preparation for life, not only school readiness. My philosophy is directed by children, with play seen as an integral component. Learning opportunities are everywhere and environments at Cottage Grove are designed to encourage children to become confident and capable.

I am also a mother of three teenagers and one very spoilt French bulldog! I recognise the important role that teachers and educators have held in my family life and can’t wait to be a part of your child’s learning experience.

I look forward to meeting you and your family.

Exploring nature-based play

Children love getting out and exploring in nature. It really is the greatest teacher. Nature based play is a core part of our curriculum. That’s because it teaches them vital life skills including confidence, independence, exploration and cooperation. Playing outside also promotes health and wellbeing and teaches them respect for the environment.
