Journey Early Learning Banyo is where your child’s journey begins. We provide a nurturing environment filled with curiosity, wonder and joy. It’s a place where children aged from six weeks to six years of age can make a positive start to a life of learning, development, growth and opportunity.
Journey Banyo is a modern centre with landscaped native gardens. It’s the perfect space for little explorers who have a natural sense of curiosity and yearning for adventure. Our rooms open out onto the playground, encouraging indoor and outdoor play time. Our children love the alfresco style eating area with picnic style benches, which allows every meal to be enjoyed on the patio, under the fans. We also have an outdoor, undercover space which is perfect for arts and crafts. Some of the activities include slime making, hand painting and sensory play. Our children are encouraged to get messy, dig in the dirt and play amongst the gardens. What little explorer wouldn’t love that?
We love to connect with our local Banyo community and that’s why we undertake regular field expeditions. We visit Earnshaw State College for Fitness Fridays and enjoy regular swimming lessons in Summer. We also take our children to the local library on a fortnightly basis, so they can take part in the learning and development programs. We also offer various sports and music activities for children of all ages, including Billy’s Buddies and Music Beat. These programs really help with things like motor skills, confidence and building strong friendships.
From peek-a-boo to prep, we’re here every step of the way.
School transition is a major focus, and we work hard to ensure this is a smooth process. By providing a safe and secure environment, our children develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self for the school journey ahead.
In order to ensure every child is prepared for school, our Kindergarten classrooms are intentionally designed by our Teachers to align with the Journey Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework and Curriculum. Our Government Approved Funded 3 and 4-Year-Old Kindergarten Classrooms are run by ACCEQA approved Early Childhood Teachers and Qualified Educators. Children enrolling in our 4-Year-Old Kinder Program are provided with ongoing support from teachers in preparation for school through our School Readiness Program.

My name is Jes and as the Centre Manager, I look forward to showing you through Journey Banyo and getting the opportunity to introduce you to our team.
I have worked in the Early Childhood Sector for almost 18 years across the northside of Brisbane and hold my Diploma in Children’s Services.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work closely with every age group within many different roles in both in home care and long day care settings.
My passion for early childhood is evident through my philosophy and my teaching beliefs of; attachments, relationships with children, and seeing children as competent and capable in their world around them.
I believe in strong partnerships with families to support children to reach their full potential, it is our goal to ensure all families feel valued, respected and at home while with us at Journey Banyo.

Exploring nature-based play

Children love getting out and exploring in nature. It really is the greatest teacher. Nature based play is a core part of our curriculum. That’s because it teaches them vital life skills including confidence, independence, exploration and cooperation. Playing outside also promotes health and wellbeing and teaches them respect for the environment.
